Emergency Call Centre Agent

Introduction

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness invites suitable candidates to apply for two permanent Emergency Call Centre Agent positions. These roles are based at the Emergency Communication Centre in the Metropole region. The department is committed to Employment Equity. Salary: R228,321 – R268,950 per annum (plus benefits: 13th cheque, pension, housing, and medical aid allowance)

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and capture incoming emergency calls on the GEMS data system
• Calm and manage callers experiencing anxiety and distress
• Assess the urgency and nature of each call and determine priority
• Dispatch appropriate emergency services using the radio communication system
• Monitor ongoing emergency incidents and track resources
• Ensure hygiene and professional standards are maintained in the control room

Requirements

• Senior Certificate (Grade 12 or equivalent)
• Appropriate experience in an Emergency or Medical Call Centre
• Computer literacy, including MS Office
• Familiarity with GEMC/CAD (Computer Aided Dispatching System)
• Willingness to work shifts and overtime as required
