Introduction

Truworths is seeking a strategic and hands-on Credit Operations Manager (2IC) to support and drive the operational success of its 200-seat collections call centre. You’ll play a critical leadership role in managing early-stage outbound and inbound collections, ensuring delinquency targets are achieved, and implementing continuous performance improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the call centre and ensure performance targets are met
  • Oversee collection activities to minimize arrears and bad debt exposure
  • Coach and develop Collection Supervisors and team members
  • Conduct performance appraisals and ensure ongoing training and development
  • Monitor attendance, absenteeism, and staff attrition; take proactive steps as needed
  • Analyse data and recommend improvements to existing strategies and procedures
  • Support recruitment and ensure alignment with business values and competencies
  • Drive technical and soft skills training within the team
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and labour legislation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional managers to enhance collections performance

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Matric/Grade 12
  • 5–7 years experience as an Operational Collections Manager
  • 7+ years total experience in collections, including agent/supervisor roles
  • In-depth knowledge of collections processes and strategy execution
  • Proven track record in team leadership, staff development, and performance management
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to draw insights from performance data
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to implement change and optimise systems and workflows
