Introduction

The Western Cape Government’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport is seeking dynamic individuals to coordinate and implement sport and recreation development programmes within the province.

Salary: R325,101 – R382,959 per annum (Salary Level 7) plus 37% in lieu of benefits
Job Type: 3-Year Contract

Minimum Requirements

  • An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification).
  • A valid code B (or higher) driving licence.
    Note: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities but have reasonable access to transport are encouraged to apply.

Recommendations

  • Relevant experience in recreation programmes and setting up indigenous games structures.
  • Experience in project management and event planning.

Key Performance Areas

  • Coordinate and assist with the implementation of recreation development programmes.
  • Manage and support governance issues, providing mentorship and guidance to staff.
  • Lead, monitor, and evaluate Sport Development Centres and their activities.
  • Manage and take responsibility for assets within the Sport Development Centres.

Competencies Required

Knowledge of:

  • Mass participation strategies, Public Finance Management Act, basic budgeting and HR processes.
  • National Sport and Recreation Plan, and relevant policies and regulations within recreation and sport.
  • Event planning, management, and project management within community sports development.

Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Proven computer literacy.
  • Ability to manage projects and interpret statistical data effectively.

Remuneration

R325,101 – R382,959 per annum (Salary Level 7) plus 37% in lieu of benefits. Additional service benefits may apply according to prescripts and collective agreements.
