Sport Promotion Officer: School Sport
Introduction
The Western Cape Government’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport is seeking dynamic individuals to coordinate and implement sport and recreation development programmes within the province.

Salary: R325,101 – R382,959 per annum (Salary Level 7) plus 37% in lieu of benefits
Job Type: 3-Year Contract
Minimum Requirements
- An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification).
- A valid code B (or higher) driving licence.

Recommendations
- Relevant experience in recreation programmes and setting up indigenous games structures.
- Experience in project management and event planning.
Key Performance Areas
- Coordinate and assist with the implementation of recreation development programmes.
- Manage and support governance issues, providing mentorship and guidance to staff.
- Lead, monitor, and evaluate Sport Development Centres and their activities.
- Manage and take responsibility for assets within the Sport Development Centres.
Competencies Required
Knowledge of:
- Mass participation strategies, Public Finance Management Act, basic budgeting and HR processes.
- National Sport and Recreation Plan, and relevant policies and regulations within recreation and sport.
- Event planning, management, and project management within community sports development.
Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Proven computer literacy.
- Ability to manage projects and interpret statistical data effectively.
Remuneration
R325,101 – R382,959 per annum (Salary Level 7) plus 37% in lieu of benefits. Additional service benefits may apply according to prescripts and collective agreements.
