Development Youth: Intern Support

Introduction

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is offering an excellent opportunity for young people in the Murraysburg community who are passionate about making a difference. If you are between the ages of 18 and 35, reside near the Murraysburg Health Facility, and are willing to work flexible hours—including weekends, public holidays, and night duty—this internship might be for you! Minimum Requirements

• Basic numeracy and literacy skills
• Appropriate experience in a household/cleaning environment
• Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and practices
• Ability to perform physical tasks and operate heavy-duty cleaning and household equipment
• Willingness to rotate in the facility based on operational needs

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver effective cleaning services (dusting, washing, scrubbing, polishing, refuse removal)
• Adhere to safety measures and Occupational Health and Safety standards
• Comply with Infection Prevention and Control measures
• Support the housekeeping supervisor with general housekeeping duties (control of cleaning equipment, linen, and serving meals to patients)

Knowledge and Skills

• Support housekeeping supervisor in ensuring adherence to policies and cleaning practices
• Knowledge of stock, assets, linen, and equipment control

Additional Information

• Candidates will be subjected to a competency test
