Key Responsibilities

• Respond to fires, rescues, hazardous substance incidents, and emergencies.
• Extricate casualties and provide basic medical care.
• Operate firefighting and rescue equipment to control and extinguish fires.
• Undertake fire protection duties in life- and property-threatening situations.
• Conduct health and safety inspections and enforce OHS Act compliance.
• Maintain, clean, and test firefighting vehicles, apparatus, and equipment.
• Participate in drills, simulations, and ongoing physical fitness training.
• Provide fire safety training and inspections to staff and clients.
• Maintain accurate records, logs, and shift-related documentation.
• Drive and operate heavy and specialized firefighting vehicles at incidents.
• Support supervisory and line functional personnel duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Firefighter II Certification (IFSAC Accredited / NFPA 1001).
• Firefighting training with 2–3 years’ related experience.
• Valid Code C1 driver’s license with PrDP.
• Medically and physically fit for firefighting duties.
• Hazmat experience and knowledge.
• EMT certification and First Aid Levels 1–3.
• Clear criminal record.

Advantageous Skills & Competencies

• Advanced driving experience.
• Strong understanding of fire prevention procedures.
• Knowledge of fire chemistry and extinguishing systems.
• Ability to react quickly to emergencies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Administrative and report-writing ability.
• Sound knowledge of Hazmat guidelines and security industry compliance.
• Instructor-level understanding of firefighter training.
